Our vision for this website is to create a worldwide online community with Quakers from all branches of the Religious Society of Friends as well as with non-Quakers who want to join us here. We have no official affiliation with the Religious Society of Friends or any of its branches. Our mission is to offer the possibility to share spirituality 24/7 and across international and cultural borders. Our target group consists of people less able to participate in comparable face-to-face communities and people who want to add wider sharing of spirituality to their participation in such communities. Our main tools are the forum and the 'meeting room' at www.quakerworship.org where we experiment with online Quaker Meetings for Worship. Many members include e-mail addresses and other contact details in their profile; all can be reached with Personal Messages. Personal Messages can be sent by using the link under the introduction text in every member profile. So do register as member if you want to join! Vision and mission require committed members. We call everyone 'member' who registers as user of this website. We don't require commitment to vision and mission from all who do. We don't require commitment in any particular form from those who want to commit themselves. Those who do show commitment, we ask to not let go of this commitment easily. Please share doubts and frustrations long before they might give rise to a decision to leave. So we can deal with them together, whatever the outcome. We don't require commitment in any particular form, but we do welcome members taking responsibility. And telling us which responsibility they take and how they think it contributes to our vision and mission. So we can support each other in bearing the responsibilities chosen voluntarily. |
